Anton Litchfield

Director of Computer Forensics and Data Analytics, Encore

Anton Litchfield has more than 17 years of combined high-technology investigations and law enforcement experience. Prior to joining Encore, Mr. Litchfield was the Managing Director of the Data Forensic consulting practice at Bridge City Legal. Previously, he was the Managing Principal of the Data Forensics practice at NTI. At NTI he also instructed computer forensic training classes that had been attended by US federal law enforcement officers, state and local law enforcement officers, military, foreign government officials, and corporate computer security professionals. Mr. Litchfield formerly was a police officer with Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the London Police Force. The last four years of his law enforcement career were spent as a Detective in the OPP’s Child Pornography Unit (”Project P”) where he investigated computer crimes related to child pornography and the sexual exploitation of children.

Mr. Litchfield has extensive expert witness testimony experience (he has testified over 30 times on computer\electronic evidence issues) as well as experience as a special master. He has consulted and managed numerous large scale forensic and e-discovery projects including one project where over 4,300 computers worldwide were analyzed for responsive data. He has provided consulting services to such government agencies as the SEC, the FTC, and the Department of Justice.

Anton has processed hundreds of terabytes of information relating to civil litigation. Specific tasks involved:

  • Crafting litigation hold and document retention policies
  • Auditing organizations to ensure document retention and destruction policies are followed
  • Helping attorneys prepare 30(b)(6) questionnaires, discovery requests, processing protocols, as well as countering claims/requests made by opposing parties
  • Creating mirror image backups of evidentiary data
  • Scrubbing of hard drives to prevent cross contamination of data, or to prevent the release of sensitive information
  • Extracting information from “ambient” areas of magnetic media. This includes free and slack space, temporary files, and the Window’s swap file
  • Keyword list construction and searches
  • Analyzing email and address databases in various common formats
  • Reconstruction and extraction of partial data
  • Windows Registry, log file, and indexing software analysis
  • Performing timeline analysis across multiple forms of electronic media
  • Elimination of specific data as part of litigation settlements
  • eDiscovery consultation

Mr. Litchfield is EnCase Certified Examiner, A+ certified and holding a professional certificate in computer forensics from Oregon State University. He is a qualified as an expert in computer forensics, Internet investigations, and child pornography investigations.  He has acted as a court appointed special master.
